This web page was a gift from our daughter, Denise.
We are in our 80's and have been married over 60 years. Bob spent 20 years in the Navy and we acquired many friends and acquaintances during these years. His Speciality in the Navy was Flight Simulators.

| Blanche - 1949 |
|
| The Beginning
Blanche was working in St. Louis, Mo. with the Telephone Co. and Bob was stationed at the Naval Air Station there. We were in our teens and fell in love. We borrowed a car from a friend and drove just over the state line of Missouri until we arrived in Pocahontas, Arkansas to be married, never dreaming the interesting and exciting path our lives would take.
The Years Go By From 1949 to 1952, we were stationed at NAS, New Orleans. Many good times were spent with Blanche's family in New Orleans and in her hometown of Kentwood, LA.
Then in 1952 until 1953 Bob attended TD(B) School in Millington, TN. During this time, we were blessed with the birth of our first child, Stephen D. Goebel on July 27, 1954. From 1954 to 1957, we were stationed at NAS Beeville, TX. The climate was quite a change from Tennessee. 1957 to 1958 saw us stationed at NAS Moffett Field, Calilfornia. Then it was back to Millington, TN from 1958 to 1963 where Bob taught Electronics.

| The best duty station We ever experienced was when we were assigned to NS Bermuda from August 1963 to February 1964. We spent a short six months there. Due to the base closing we were then transferred to NAS Jacksonville, Florida where Bob completed his Navy career and retired in March 1967 as Chief Petty Officer.
A new phase started In our lives as we transitioned to being civilians. We became residents of Hurst, TX and Bob took a job with American Airlines, as an Assistant Engineer in their newly formed Flight Simulator Department. After 17 years he retired as Manager of Logistic Support. We had many opportunities to travel in Europe and many other parts of the world. Some of the highlights of our travel were trips to England, Belgium, Amsterdam, Rome (The Vatican), France, Portagal, Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Scotland, Egypt, The Holy Land, Morocco, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Korea, Ireland, as well as many places in the US. Tragedy touched our lives, when we lost our son in May of 1991. Our faith in God and with the help of family and good friends, we were able to carry on. Our grandson, John David was born in July of 1995. He is the most wonderful thing that has happened to us. It is a joy to watch him thrive and grow. We have been members of Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Hurst, TX for 35 years. We would love to hear from anyone who has crossed paths with us during our travels.
